Jersey drivers who had to line up outside to get into the tiny Springfield Motor Vehicle Commission agency had their misery ended Tuesday.

Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz, R-Union, left, MVC Chief Administrator Sue Fulton, center and Mayor Alex Keiser, second to right, cut a ceremonial ribbon opening the new vehicle center in Springfield on Tuesday. The tiny state Motor Vehicle Commission agency in Springfield looked more like the quaint brick branch of small-town, local bank.

The former MVC agency on Center Street in Springfield is seen on March 11, 2020. Drivers had to line up on the sidewalk across the street to wait to get inside the small building. The new agency on Route 22 east is 6,800 square feet, 21% larger than the old agency, Fulton said. The old, unloved brick agency on Center Street closed on Feb. 19.

Inside a new Motor Vehicle Commission agency in Springfield reveals more space in the 6,800 square foot building than the old agency it replaced.
