International star Mwai Kumwenda is returning to Super Netball after signing with the West Coast Fever to replace Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard for the 2025 season. Kumwenda missed the 2023 season due to pregnancy and will now relocate to Perth to join the Fever.

“I am going to embrace the challenge of covering for the best shooter in the world. Jhaniele has set the standards at SSN-level for a long time and I am looking forward to being able to work with her and my new teammates and Dan Ryan in the Fever environment.”“She’s a fierce competitor and I know she’s up for the challenge to get back to her best,” he said.“She’s a proven performer on the SSN court and she knows what it takes to be a winner.

“Mwai provides us with a strong target in our shooting circle which is familiar for us, but her movement and variety allows us to really evolve our game and do things differently which is going to be a great challenge for everyone.”Kumwenda is no stranger to top level netball, having represented Malawi 89 times. She is the 2020 Super Netball grand final MVP and a premiership winner – after playing a starring role in the defeat of the side she’ll now represent, the West Coast Fever.
