As Mavrik Geyer prepares to make his NRL debut, Panthers legend has revealed his son knocked back an approach from Craig Bellamy to chase his dream of playing first grade for the Panthers.
Mark Geyer admits he was reduced to tears as he spread the news of his son’s expected NRL debut to friends and family over the past couple of days.
He had Craig Bellamy knocking and showing a lot of interest in him a couple of years back. He was honest with him and told him that. He told him he wants to play first grade at Penrith. I said, ‘Yes mate?’ He said, ‘Dad I’m playing on Thursday’.“I said, ‘What the f---’. His mum was also in the lounge room on loudspeaker. My mum happened to be down with us from the Central Coast when he called. When she heard, she just started crying.
