'My daughter's landlord tried to rent half her BED to a stranger for £20 a night'
“No consultation with my daughter. We can do nothing except to give it up… It’s an absolute disgrace.”
It turned out the student's room was being rented out under the Rent-a-Room scheme, a system which is not covered byAfter Greg Hughes shared the news on Twitter, one person commented: "Years ago my landlord rented out the other bed in my room in a flat I had moved into...not the same bed at least...I left immediately...but I had that option."
Another Twitter user commented: "Something similar in my old accommodation, landlady told two students they were sharing the room, one double bed."On the Citizens Information website, it explains there is a significant difference between renting a 'self-contained unit' and rooms that are not self contained.and obligations under residential tenancies legislation that apply to you.
