After asking whether she was surprised by the officer’s actions, he said Allen became “aggressive and terse” and told him: “You can either be my friend or my foe, and once you’re my foe, there’s no coming back.”Neville tried to say the pair had no choice but to be friends, a proposition he said she rejected. He then suggested they were still on the same page and told her to “settle down”.
Two other issues raised by Neville in following months about lab capacity and the reporting and sharing of some results then ended in another “terse” phone call in which Allen suggested she would make a complaint about him.
