“It was different. I’m not saying I’m going to be drinking the umpire Kool-Aid either on all the things they spoke about. It was an interesting experience to see how much work they do behind the scenes,” Simpson said on “When I walked into the box, I was surprised there’s a boundary umpire coach, there’s a goal umpire coach and there’s two field umpire coaches, plus three more in the ARC. There’s an amazing amount of scrutiny that goes on.Simpson described Tuesday’s review as “close to an environment as you can imagine,” but noted: “Except I don’t know how you win, I know how you lose if you’re an umpire.
“It was a very familiar environment, quite professional. On top of that they do their training and weights and that sort of stuff.”KEY ISSUES-The coaches can’t give any on-field feedback “To debunk a few issues, there’s no half-time: ‘Listen, it’s 10-20 , we better even it up in the second half,” Simpson said.
