Neptune Township gave Verano planning board approval on May 25 to begin adult weed sales at its dispensary there.

The Neptune Township Planning Board, in a 7-0 vote, gave conditional approval May 25 for Verano to expand its current medical dispensary at 2070-2100 Route 66, that operates under the Zen Leaf banner, to also sell adult weed.

Verano is expected to seek an appearance before the Cannabis Regulatory Commission on June 23 to get final state approvals to begin adult weed sales. A representative for AYR, which received approval last week to sell recreational weed at its stores in Eatontown, Union and Woodbridge, told NJ Advance Media on Wednesday the company has still not determined opening dates. A statement last week from the company, which recently acquired Garden State Dispensary, said it plans to open for adult weed sales within weeks.

The medical dispensary is located in a 4,770-square foot space in the strip mall owned by Neptune Circle Holdings, LLC.
