Emergency crews were called to the crash in upstate New York early Friday, according to state police.

New York State Police said they responded to the deadly snowmobile crash March 4, 2022 in the Town of Montague. A New Jersey man was killed, police said.A New Jersey man died early Friday in a head-on snowmobile crash that also claimed the life of another driver in upstate New York, authorities said.

Nicholas J. Klym, 64, of Barnegat, was traveling westbound on a snowmobile when it collided with another snowmobile going east on Rector Road in the Town of Montague around 12:45 a.m., according to“Preliminary investigation suggests that Klym failed to keep right at the crest of a small hill where the crash occurred,” police said in a statement.

The other snowmobile operator, Charles C. Eldred Jr., 44, of Canandaigua, New York, died at the scene, according to authorities.
