Romulo Luzuriaga, 57, of Newark, was found fatally shot late Thursday, authorities said.

A Newark man died late Thursday after he was found shot in a car parked on a city street, authorities said.

Police were called about 10:25 p.m. for a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Grafton Avenue in Newark, according to acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé. Officers found Romulo Luzuriaga, 57, inside a car suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Stephens and Fragé said in a joint statement.

Luzuriaga was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m., Stephens and Fragé said in a joint statement. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the prosecutor’s office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
