John Keller, whose N.J. Turnpike Authority career spanned 25 years, has announced his retirement.
, surprised his colleagues Tuesday morning, announcing he plans to retire in June after a 25-year long career at the agency.
“While I loved it, it does take its toll, sleeping with two phones next to your bed, 24/7, 365 days,” Keller said after the board of commissioners meeting. “It took a lot.” Keller, 58, started his career at the authority in February 1998 as an engineer and is first person from the engineering department to rise through the ranks to become executive director, being named to the post in April 2018, replacing Joseph Mrozek. Keller’s last day on the job is June 30.
