That’s when widespread showers and thunderstorms could move across the region and cause “very heavy rainfall,” increasing the threat of flash floods, as well as strong winds, the service said. The “highest chance” of that is after midnight.
For areas that received heavy rain Friday, including Warren and Morris counties, “it won’t take much extra rainfall to get flash flooding,” the service said. “Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the service said. “Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.”Monday’s forecast shows sunny weather, while the threat of showers and thunderstorms returns Monday night into Tuesday.
