Pelosi's announcement on Sunday night was coupled with a White House statement of Ukraine aid while also urging"The House is currently exploring strong legislation that will further isolate Russia from the global economy," it read on Pelosi's website."Our bill would ban the import of Russian oil and energy products into the United States, repeal normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, and take the first step to deny Russia access to the World Trade Organization.

U.S. Speaker of the House of Representative Nancy Pelosi receives a gift from the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin I. Kosachev on June 21, 2007 after opening the Committee on Foreign Affairs joint meeting with members of Russia's Parliament to discuss democracy, human rights, regional conflicts, strategic stability, trade, and economic issues in the Rayburn building on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
