Clive Churchill Medallist Nathan Cleary has declared his support for the Indigenous Voice to Parliament just hours after he won his third straight NRL Premiership with the Penrith Panthers.

The star halfback was instrumental in the Panthers’ historic three-peat on Sunday night and has now used his appeal to help promote Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s proposed constitutional change.

“The Government here only seems to have celebrities arguing for its constitutional change not arguments and our constitution is the 10th oldest in the world and it’s been changed just eight times,” he told First Edition. “Where is the Government, why is the Government so focussed on this Voice and doing almost nothing on the cost of living which is what people actually raise with me on the street.”

Cleary is the latest of several celebrities who have joined the Yes campaign but the prime minister’s social media post divided several Australians.
