Penrith Panthers head coach Ivan Cleary has revealed his premiership winning son will be spending time with his girlfriend Mary Fowler in England before undergoing shoulder surgery.

Cleary played a career-low of 13 games in the season as he battled an injured shoulder, along with two separate hamstring injuries. Ivan Cleary told Channel 7 at the club's annual awards night on Tuesday that his son's surgery would not be taking place for a"couple of weeks". The Matildas star wasn't in attendance for the NRL Grand Final due to her football duties. Cleary now has the opportunity to watch her play live while he visits her in England.It was a"pretty hectic" 48 hours for the master coach with his Panthers men claiming a fourth straight premiership on Sunday, making them arguably the greatest NRL team ever.
