Australia's tech industry needs to boost its workforce by nearly a third if the country has a chance of meeting booming demand in the digital economy, Australia's largest professional body representing the IT sector has said.

ACS CEO Josh Griggs said Australia has to fix the cyber-and-AI-skilled worker shortage to streamline productivity growth across multiple sectors.said Australian businesses are lagging behind in generative AI adoption - with only half of workers saying they believe their workplace can identify and address risks related to AI.

Picture: ACS Digital Pulse Report 2024 "Traditional sources of tech talent are under threat with reductions in the skilled migration program and international student caps making it harder to keep up with growing demand," Mr Griggs said.
"This includes mathematicians, electronic engineers and marketing professionals, among others," the report said.
