Australia has stood united on Monday as a sombre day of national mourning has honoured the six people who died and the eleven injured in the devastating mass murder at Bondi Junction on Saturday.
The Sydney Opera House has lit up its sails in honour of the Bondi Junction victims as Australians mourn the tragedy.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has spoken to the nation’s grief: “This is a difficult time for our nation and for Australians”.Mr Albanese ordered flags to fly at half-mast across the country in tribute.NSW Premier Chris Minns has said the memorial will be similar to the one in Martin Place constructed after two people were killed in the 2014 Lindt Cafe siege.
Led by NSW State Coroner Magistrate Teresa O'Sullivan, the inquiry will evaluate the police response, criminal investigation and the offender’s interactions with government agencies.
