NatWest branches across Scotland and the UK are closing
NatWest has announced it will shut one of its Glasgow branches as part of nationwide closures, with Edinburgh and Aberdeen also affected.
The bank will close its branch at 14 Blythswood Square, with 42 others across the UK also shutting. It is part of the company's transition towards online banking. NatWest has stated that most of its retail banking services can be carried out digitally. Only six jobs are reportedly at risk following the news of the closures.The bank has stated that it will be in touch with vulnerable customers to offer support after the announcement. With customers anxious that their local branch may be among the closures, it said it will make sure “no one is left behind”.
A NatWest spokesperson commented: “As with many industries, most of our customers are shifting to mobile and online banking because it is faster and easier for people to manage their financial lives. We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren’t right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no-one is left behind.
