The Australian Energy Producers claim Australia’s offshore environmental regulation system is broken and is threatening the economy and climate change targets. Australian Energy Producers Chief Executive Samantha McCulloch says the system is “not working at the moment” and has called for it to be fixed. “We have an offshore regulatory system that frankly is not working at the moment,” Ms McCulloch told Sky News Australia. “We simply can’t be in a situation where billions of dollars are being invested, and yet the approvals – when they’re granted – are frankly not worth the paper they’re written on. “We need to fix this system. “This goes to not just billions of dollars of investment but actually to our energy security.”
