"Anyone who's seen a video or an image of Neil knows he's a pretty charismatic fella," wildlife biologist Kris Carlyon said.But the return of the southern elephant seal nicknamed "Neil" to the south-eastern shores of Tasmania has prompted experts to issue a stark warning. "We're asking people to keep their distance, to stay away, and to not share his location so that doesn't become a circus," he said.Southern elephant seals in Australian waters usually congregate on Macquarie Island and Heard Island in the Southern Ocean."Where they're born, they tend to return to," Dr Carlyon said.
