WEATHER: Nestor brings heavy rains to East Coast, heavy winds could spread fires in West.
Nestor is now just a classic low pressure system as it moves through the Southeast and towards the mid-Atlantic this morning. A fairly large rain shield is currently covering much of North Carolina and Virginia, with pockets of heavier rain and some gusty winds.
Behind the storm some mountain snow is falling across parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. Unfortunately, behind this developing storm system there are two other areas of weather concern. One of them is a risk for fires across the high plains from Western Kansas to Eastern New Mexico. This is due to strong gusty dry winds behind the cold front.
