The World Cup-winning coach says she wanted to continue in the role past the 2020 expiry of her contract, and is disappointed not to have her contract renewed.

Netball Australia boss Marne Fechner thanked Alexander for her service, saying she left a"great legacy".

The 56-year-old has coached 102 tests for the national team, winning 81 per cent of her matches since taking over from Norma Plummer after the 2011 World Cup. However, the Diamonds suffered successive one-point defeats in the finals of their last two major events.
