Netflix has snapped up Sydney-based Animal Logic, which has produced visual effects and animation for more than 30 years.

It is one of several acquisitions for Netflix in the past year, including the Roald Dahl Story Company and visual-effects house ScanlineThe deals are considered a way to give Netflix its own intellectual property as other major studios bring their content in-house and launch their own streaming services.
Animal Logic will remain under the leadership of chief executive and co-founder Zareh Nalbandian and will continue to work with its long-standing studio partners and filmmakers.“This is the perfect next chapter for Animal Logic,” Nalbandian said. “Our values and aspirations could not be more aligned with Netflix, in working with diverse content makers, producing innovative and engaging stories for audiences around the world.
Netflix says it has spent millions on acquiring the rights to local programs and films, and contributes to the local industry by hiring production and post-production infrastructure and talent.
