Netflix is rebooting the beloved historical drama 'Little House on the Prairie' with a fresh adaptation for a new audience. The series will follow the adventures and hardships of the Ingalls family on their farm in the American frontier during the late 19th century. The reboot is being produced by Ed Friendly's son, Trip, under Friendly Family Productions, and showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine, who has been inspired by the books since childhood. According to media trend tracker Nielsen, the original – which ran for nine seasons from 1974 to 1983 – was one of last year’s most viewed library titles on streaming in North America, clocking up 13.25 billion minutes of viewing on streamer Peacock in 2024, the 50th anniversary of the series’ first episode.
