“I asked it not really thinking that he was going to give it, so when it all unfolded, I remember that moment.” It led to an extremely messy fallout, with Folau taking legal action against his termination, which was eventually settled out of court. While there appears to be very little grey area in Folau’s original post, he also blamed the media for somehow taking it out of context.“A lot of people misunderstood the actual post and the media played a huge part in taking it and spinning that one word,” he said.
Folau added he felt his treatment was “unfair” at the time and he can “confidently say I’m glad I went through it and I wouldn’t change it”.
