A Hurstville real estate agent and property developer has denied he gave two councillors $170,000 in exchange for their support for two multimillion-dollar apartment blocks in Sydney’s south, a corruption inquiry has heard.
The corruption watchdog is also probing whether the councillors deliberately failed to declare a conflict of interest regarding their relationships with developers Uy, Wensheng Liu and Yuqing Liu.he had accepted $170,000 from Uy in exchange for supporting plans to develop apartments on Treacy Street, and the Landmark Square complex on Forest Road.
Hurstville real estate agent and developer Ching Wah Uy gives evidence at the Operation Galley inquiry on Wednesday.Uy told him the cash was “for your help on Treacy Street”, Badalati said. He said Hindi later admitted Uy had given him the same amount. The inquiry heard that similar photos from Uy’s phone, showing bundles of $50 and $100 notes, from 2015, had been tendered to the commission.
