A new list of the 50 Greatest Actors Of All Time includes notable performers like Florence Pugh, Heath Ledger, and Denzel Washington but leaves off other legends like Harrison Ford, Robin Williams, and Helen Mirren.

Heath Ledger and Florence Pugh both made it onto a new fifty greatest actors of all time list, but film legend Harrison Ford was among the notable absent names. Ledger is widely considered to be one of the top actors of the last 30 years, earning numerous accolades despite his tragically short acting career. Meanwhile, Pugh has emerged as one of Hollywood's most bankable new performers, appearing in both award-winning period pieces and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The new list celebrating the fifty greatest actors of all time was decided by Empire readers in a vote ahead of the publication's February 2023 issue. The magazine describes rising star Pugh as one of the best in her generation and praises Ledger for his work as a romantic lead and his iconic portrayal of the Joker opposite Christian Bale, who is also on the list.

Mid-1900s silver-screen star Audrey Hepburn is among the older snubs. She won an Oscar for her performance in Roman Holiday, which featured another notable snub in Gregory Peck. All-time character actors Javier Bardem, Allison Janney, Steve Buscemi, and Christoph Waltz also didn't make the list. Bardem's legendary portrayal of Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men is hailed as one of the greatest performances in film history.

Still, the list features many of the biggest names in the history of filmmaking in the United States and countries all around the world. Given the nature of a reader-voted ranking, some surprising names were bound to be included in and left off of the list, especially with there being so many actors who have left a lasting impact on the film industry. Either way, it's interesting to see which performers came to readers' minds and which didn't make the cut.
