Apple launched the latest version of iOS last month.
Virgin Media O2 has become the first UK operator to roll out a new anti-fraud tool which makes it quicker and easier for Apple iPhone customers to report spam and phishing text messages to be investigated by the network provider.
By reporting texts, Virgin Media O2 customers can not only ensure scammers numbers are blocked but also help improve the company’s blocking technology which uses machine learning to identify new spam patterns and attempts. Since the start of the year, more than 60 million scam texts have been detected and stopped from ever reaching customers helping to protect them from potential fraud.
People using older versions of iOS or other devices can report texts and calls by forwarding them to 7726 - which spells ‘spam’ on the phone pad.
