A new $225 million high-rise high school opened in Parramatta has swapped a dedicated library space for hubs of mainly digital resources on each of its floors.
Dubosarsky has been appointed to the ambassadorial role that champions the role of creativity and reading in children’s lives, replacing outgoing laureate Morris Gleitzman.recognising that reading often drops off after primary school and needs to be developed as a lifelong habit. "Sophisticated reading is a dying art, that's the sad possibility," she said.
"Reading is a lifetime project, it's not something you learn, and that's it," she said. "To be a good reader you have to read all the time. It's like learning to swim but only doing one lap. You won't be able to save yourself."
