NSW has announced new testing requirements for Sydney-based workers as the state scrambles to contain the growing outbreak of COVID-19.

Essential workers who live in and work outside Fairfield must be tested every three days under the new rules.The strictest requirements are for those who live in the Fairfield local government area in Sydney’s west, where the virus is running rampant. Workers in Fairfield must undergo a COVID-19 test every three days if they are going to work outside the Fairfield area.

For workers in Greater Sydney, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Shellharbour and Wollongong local government areas, a weekly test is required if they are travelling more than 50 kilometres from the boundary of the lockdown zone.
