Earlier this week scientists called for the return of a 10-day self-isolation period
A new Covid strain is capable of reinfecting people within weeks of them recovering from the virus, doctors from around the world fear.
“It is a kind of stealth virus that gets in under the radar, even having had Omicron, we’re not well protected from further infections.” Legally enforced self-isolation periods have now been scrapped and NHS guidance is currently to do so for just five days after testing positive. That is despite infection rates still running relatively high with around one in every 25 people having it.
