Bungie has dropped hints here and there through concept art and descriptions of a “lighthearted” game that would be diametrically opposed to it’s uh, not very lighthearted Marathon and Destiny franchises.
I…uh, don’t really know what to make of that. I am trying to think of a concept that combines all those things and I got nothing. A “team-based action game” certainly implies multiplayer, and if we’re talking MOBAs, that probably does not mean much PvE content, if any. It’s set in a sci-fi universe like their other two games, so it’s not present day or fantasy or anything like that. And it is not an existing IP.
I can understanding combining maybe a MOBA and a fighting game and platformer. That sounds maybe a bit Fall Guys-ish, judging by the other “cute, neon” character descriptions. But life sim? Frog-type games? They have to be trolling with that last one right. Maybe a reference to Destiny’s ancient frog concept art. I literally googled “frog-type games” and I got the “ten best frogs in gaming” which includes Politoed from Pokemon, the frog chair from Animal Crossing and of course, Frogger.
The Destiny 2 community has currently been grumbling about Bungie moving a lot of its PvP team to Marathon the past few years, though Bungie recently gave them some good news with talk of reinvestment into the mode and new, free map packs. The sense I’m getting from this third game is that it many not be as big as the other two like say, Fall Guys is not big. Though probably bigger than Fall Guys if it has to be a MOBA and a life sim and a…frog game.
