Built in 1968 with grant money from the now-defunct Danforth Foundation, Patrick Henry was one of just seven 'schools of tomorrow' in the United States that offered the experimental Model Schools Program.

'An open campus, flexible elective studies, enhanced tutoring and cutting-edge teaching approaches in traditional core courses were all part of an initiative that encouraged students to take more responsibility and think independently.
