“It is beautiful to see people living in their own home and getting a service that they need,” Hampton told 7NEWS.John and Thelma Batze were married for sixty years. When Thelma died last year, she was living the life she wanted at home.For thousands of older Australians, home help is the perfect alternative to aged care.

Home care package provider Five Good Friends’ Simon Lockker told 7NEWS: “People can receive funding from the government ranging from $9000 to $53,000 a year.”Level one is for basic support including gardening, washing or help around the home. Level two is for those who want independence but need help with shopping, transport or personal care.Level four includes daily high needs help similar to what an at-home nurse would provide.Credit:All people need is an Aged Care Assessment Team assessment - a face-to-face assessment by a team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals who look at the needs of older people and make recommendations for government-funded care and support.
