More than three decades on, the circumstances surrounding the death of Gomeroi teen Mark Haines remain a mystery to his family. They hope this time, a coroner will give them answers.

But there have always been questions over whether those injuries occurred on the tracks, or whether his body was placed there. Mark's movements on the evening he died were first examined in the initial inquest into his death in late 1988. It had been raining on the night of Mark's death, and police said they believed moisture from the rain would have prevented any prints being lifted.
