The Queensland government proposes a shake-up to the state's written-off vehicle scheme, including a new inspection model that will make it more difficult for write-offs to return to the road.
The Queensland government has proposed changes to the state's written-off vehicle scheme amid concerns that substandard repairs are going undetected. The RACQ says such a move will mean fewer repairable write-off s are returned to the roads.
Queensland is the only Australian state without a QOR process, sparking concerns from the Department of Transport and Main Roads that substandard repairs are going undetected. The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland has backed the proposal to add a QOR to the process arguing that it would ensure written-off vehicles are repaired to an industry standard.
The move would make it easier for prospective buyers to check a vehicle's written-off status before making a purchase.
