The review and subsequent recommendations will consider whether additional resources, protocols and equipment should be put in place to protect residents against outbreaks and will compare New Jersey’s oversight of the facilities to other states
Manatt Health’s Cindy Mann and Carol Raphael will lead the team charged with supporting the state Department of Health and undertaking a two- to three-week review to address immediate concerns related to protecting long-term care facility residents and staff. The team will also advise on potential state or federal action to improve quality, safety, and resilience within the system.

Persichilli said that long-term care facilities are facing a particular challenge in acquiring personal protective equipment, but expects the regional supply chain as part of thefor purchasing PPE will help to meet those needs. So far, she said, the state has issued 10.7 million pieces of PPE to long-term care facilities, but many are reporting urgent shortages of face shields, gowns, gloves and masks.
