NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet will introduce sweeping new laws around lobbying after an investigation found there was a serious risk of corruption if secret meetings between lobbyists and public officials continued.

Senior ministerial and parliamentary secretary advisers will all also be precluded from engaging in any lobbying relating to any matter that they had official dealings with in their last 12 months in a government office. That inquiry, Operation Dasha, led to the political downfall of former Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire, who later admitted to monetising his parliamentary position to lobby for others.

“We are committed to ensuring a transparent government that operates in the best interest of the people of NSW, and this response ensures that.”
