A new national tool is helping Australians make the switch to cost saving alternatives but it comes with a warning that those left behind, could end up paying more.

Swapping household appliances to green electric alternatives can cut energy bills and carbon emissions.

The grandparents from Gladesville on Sydney's Lower North Shore expect their solar investment will be paid back in four and a half years. Following a successful pilot, energy provider AGL launched the online tool Electrify Now for all Australians.
