France has a new prime minister after President Emmanuel Macron tasked Jean Castex with forming a new government following the departure of Edouard Phillipe.
Mr Castex is a top civil servant and local mayor who orchestrated the country's exit from coronavirus lockdown.
Mr Phillipe, who has held the position since 2017, resigned as part of a cabinet reshuffle, despite seeing his popularity increase in recent weeks. Image: Getty

Local containment model 'most likely' to be effective: Health Minister | Sky News AustraliaIt’s more likely than not Victoria will get on top of its latest coronavirus outbreak, according to Health Minister Greg Hunt.\n\nVictorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Tuesday that he would be locking down 10 postcodes in the greater Melbourne area, in an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19.\n\nUnder lockdown restrictions, there are four reasons for leaving home, including to give or receive care, to work or study, to shop for essential items and for exercise.\n\n“We believe that the local containment model is the most likely to be effective,” Mr Hunt told Sky News.\n\n“Throughout we have been very careful and cautious not to set false expectations.\n\n“Nobody is in a position to make false promises.\n\n“We are going to have to live with this disease for a long while.”\n\nThe restrictions will remain in place for at least the next four weeks.\n\nThe state recorded 77 new cases on Thursday.\n
