Menzies Research Centre’s Nick Cater says a plan approved by New South Wales to abolish the regular school day in favour of expanding it will be “welcomed by parents”.
The Daily Telegraph reports the 9am to 3pm school day will be ditched and there will be classes after school to assist in pickups and drop offs with a trial starting in eight schools.
“I think it’s a very sensible move to reform schools, to change school hours in a way that fits the way people live now as opposed to the way they lived 50 years ago,” he told Sky News host Jenna Clarke.
