Martin Galicia and Patricia Martinez, the husband-and-wife team behind Taqueria Martini, saved for decades to open their restaurant in Taylorsville. It's a dream come true for them, Galicia said.

“I said I had to do something else,” Galicia said in Spanish. “I couldn’t just sell taquitos, I wanted to do something different than other restaurants.” A combination chicken, beef and shrimp fajita at Taqueria Martini in Taylorsville on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023. “Americans come here and ask me what a Mexican New York Steak is,” he said, referring to a marinated New York cut topped with a spiced sauce and served with rice, beans and vegetables. “They are getting familiar with it. In the future, I hope it becomes a popular dish.”

Anahi grew up listening to her parents discuss their restaurant plans. Now she’s 24 and glad to see it come to life every day.
