Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says they still don't know the extent of their Delta outbreak, which has been linked to a traveller from Sydney.
Auckland residents were already set to be in lockdown until Tuesday, but now the rest of the country will join them.There were 11 new cases reported on Friday, bringing the total number of cases linked to the Auckland cluster to 31.The other 12 are being investigated but there is "every sign" they are linked, Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield said."We do have COVID outside of Auckland," Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said.
"It may pop up in other parts of the country in the coming days; the last thing we want is to further spread the virus in the coming days as that will only extend the lockdown.
