Newcastle lost 1-0 against Manchester City in their last Premier League game – the last two times the Magpies have lost consecutive games have been against Man City and Liverpool, in April/May 2022 and February/March 2023. Newcastle United haven’t lost any of their last 22 Premier League games when they’ve taken the lead since a 2-1 loss at Liverpool last August. At St James’ Park, the Magpies are yet to lose in the league under Eddie Howe after taking the lead , last doing so in Steve Bruce’s last game in charge in October 2021 against Tottenham.
In his top-flight league managerial career, Liverpool’s Jürgen Klopp has beaten Eddie Howe more times than he has any other manager , winning each of his last 10 Premier League games against him. No manager has ever registered 11 consecutive Premier League wins against another, with Klopp’s 10 against Howe the joint-longest, along with Alex Ferguson against Gordon Strachan and Pep Guardiola also against Howe.
