Achieving ambitious goals may require only minor improvements to the performance of our two biggest cities.

Despite decades of governments telling Australians they are on the wrong side of history regarding climate change, they aren’t. By world standards, our cities are considered progressive .But over the past couple of years, some other trailblazers could be argued to have raised the bar with ideas, expected in some form, to be interpreted and adopted here over the short and medium term.
It also highlights how easy it is for a developer to market green credentials, when they might actually have done very little. It also recommends introducing mandatory thresholds – which could bring our cities in line with New York – where property owners are obliged to monitor consumption and are fined for exceeding limits.
