Gaines helped anchor an offensive line that was named as a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award.
He has proven to be a versatile lineman, having played every position on the offensive line for the Bruins and starting 29 consecutive games over the last three seasons.
The offensive line helped running back Zach Charbonnet rush for over 1,100 yards in each of the last two seasons.Gaines was a member UCLA’s 2018 recruiting class, the first class Chip Kelly’s inherited when he was hired in Novemeber 2017. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Atonio Mafi were also members of that recruiting class.
