Belfast councillor, Brian Smyth, described the latest transport stats as 'depressing'
The number of journeys taken on public transport in Northern Ireland over the past year is 10 million lower than pre-pandemic levels, according to new statistics from Translink.
It is also significantly up on 25.7 million journeys taken in 2020-21, according to DfI’s own figures, when pandemic movement restrictions were in place. We asked DfI if they think rising costs have had an impact on the numbers of people choosing to use the train, bus and Glider and get around.
