Northern Ireland health chiefs have told they are “deeply distressed” at the state of local hospitals but have outlined a raft of measures aimed at tackling crumbling services.
The statement has been issued amid ongoing issues across the health sector ranging from under-pressure GP services to a lack of care packages slowing the discharge of patients from hospital and continuing industrial action involving the main health unions.In the statement, the Trust bosses said: “As members of this community as well as health and social care service leaders, we are deeply distressed at the ongoing situation in our hospitals.
The statement added that “it has been agreed that the following initiatives will be introduced across the system”:
