“It would be the best birthday present ever!”
Just a few weeks before its first anniversary, The Court House in Bangor has been shortlisted for the prestigious National Lottery Project of the Year award.
The winning project will receive a £5,000 cash prize and an iconic National Lottery Awards trophy. No Northern Irish project has ever won the award, and this is the first time a Bangor-based organisation has been shortlisted. Since opening, The Court House has hosted 1,000 artists, many of whom are based in Northern Ireland, and has welcomed 35,000 people through its doors.
“We knew from years of running our annual August Festival in Bangor that there was a thirst for a permanent music and arts venue in the city, which is what drove us to persevere with the Court House refurbishment project,” added Kieran Gilmore, Open House director.
