The tennis star, who is currently playing at Wimbledon, will face court in Canberra over an alleged incident involving former partner Chiara Passari.
Passari and Kyrgios during their time together.Kyrgios’ barrister Jason Moffett, from Key Chambers, told the paper that his client was aware of the charge and it was “in the context of a domestic relationship”.
“The nature of the allegation is serious, and Mr Kyrgios takes the allegation very seriously,” Mr Moffett said. “Given the matter is before the court ... he doesn’t have a comment at this stage, but in the fullness of time we’ll issue a media release.” ACT police put out a statement confirming that a 27-year-old man from Watson was scheduled to face court on August 2 on a single charge of common assault.
