The one-time prominent barrister was living a double-life: acting for high-profile criminal clients in court, while slipping information about them to police. Nicola Gobbo said she had hoped becoming a police informer was "a way out" when gangland figures threatened her life.One of the first meetings with Victoria Police handlers occurred in the car park of the Footscray Market, Ms Gobbo said, while some other discussions occurred in a Southbank apartment.
She said she was also tasked with taking photos of everyone who attended the 40th birthday party of a Victorian criminal, so that the images could be passed on to police.Nicola Gobbo has told the court of feeling depressed and highly paranoid as police gave her tasks to complete while informing on her clients.The 51-year-old, who is giving evidence via video link from a secret location, said she told police about receiving unwanted sexual advances from a criminal contact.
